Precision Electromechanical Machining
Precision Electro-Chemical Machining (ECM) is the process of machining workpieces through the anodic dissolution of metal. Many metals can be electrochemically machined, including high-alloyed nickel, stainless steel, titanium, and other hardened materials.
There is no contact with the workpiece and no heat input, so many of the disadvantages experienced with traditional machining methods, e.g. tool wear, mechanical stresses, micro-fissures caused by heat transfer can be avoided with this unique process.
The Weiss-Aug Group provides P-ECM for products and parts where the geometry would require too many steps to achieve, or not possible with stamping, laser cutting, or other manufacturing technologies.

Shear Edge Stamping Technology
When your part requires cleanly sheared straight edges, with little or no diebreak, excellent flatness, and without the need for machining, fine blanking had been nearly the only solution until now.
Our proprietary “Shear Edge Technology” process achieves part quality equal to or in many cases better than traditional fine blanking with the economies and flexibility of the progressive stamping process.
We can often eliminate the “Die roll” condition present in fine blanking and conventional stamping by employing specially designed stations in the progression of the strip advance. The Die Roll condition is a curved contour on the edge of the side of the blanked part and is developed by the action of pulling the material before the punch travels through the material.
This process eliminates most of the fine blanking disadvantages, such as burrs, and results in a consistent quality, very cost-effective process.
Shear Edge Technology can be utilized with various applications including mechanical automotive, powertrain, and transmission components.
Founders John Francis Ph.D. and Alex Macpherson Ph.D. initially started the company in 2012 to develop new materials and manufacturing techniques for the medical device community.
Subsequently, Lupine Research has partnered with the Weiss-Aug Group to grow their manufacturing expertise and reach. As part of this group we bring fabrication and automation solutions to market in turnkey fashion.
